Bottoms up

So how often do we ever look at the world from the bottom up?
Walking through O'Hare airport is always a visual adventure, mostly because of the diversity and number of people sharing the same spaces. Last week I landed late one afternoon, emerging from an American Airline flight to a relatively empty terminal. If passengers lift their eyes to look above the arrival/departure screens and signs for gate numbers, they look up into a glass ceiling, arched like a cathedral, and lined on each side by the flags of the nations to which American flies. Suspended in the middle of the terminal walkway is a lighted globe. I stopped to take photos of the flags and globe against the glass. Taking advantage of a lull in foot traffic, I stepped out and stopped directly under the globe.
I have a map that views the world from the perspective of the Southern Hemisphere, another exercise in challenging our Northern and Western view of dominance. What if all our globes were positioned to be viewed from a different angle, would that change our view of other parts of the world, of our nation?
